ENP Mission Statement

The Elderly Nutriton Program provides nutritionally balanced meals, both congregate and home delivered, nutrition outreach and nutrition education. ENP also works closely with othe Leech Lake Programs as well as outside agencies that benefit the wellness of our elders and homebound with care giving services, (utilizing Leech Lake Programs as well as outside agencies) such as respite services, information and assistance, care giver education and training, support groups and supplemental services.

What is ENP?

Leech Lake Elderly Nutrition Program is Title III and Title IV funded program which provides these services:

  • Advocacy
  • Care giver support person
  • Social outlet and events
  • Ojibwe Achievement Center computer lab and classes
  • Nutrition outreach and education

Who is eligible?

  • Native and Non-Native 60 years of age and older living in the service area.
  • Enrolled members of any tribe age 55 or older or handicapped, living on the Leech Lake Reservation.
  • Spouse of the eligible participant.
  • Disable/Handicapped individual in the same household as the eligible participant.
  • Non-elderly handicapped or disabled individual who resides in an elderly housing facility where congregate meals are provided.
  • Frail or functionally impaired older individuals at risk of losing their independence with special attention to low income minorities living in rural areas.
  • Disabilities/handicapped are limited to: Hearing or visually impaired, limited or non-english speaking, rurally or socially isolated, limited mobility to accessing and preparing food

  • Free computer classes and Computer Lab available to Elders at the Cass Lake ENP dining facility.
