The mission of the Leech Lake Child Welfare Program is to protect a child's sense of belonging to family and tribe by providing services to children and families that ensure the health, safety, and welfare of Leech Lake children, and by promoting family preservation through the utilization of the seven traditional Ojibwe values and teachings.
Intake & Assessment helps to determine types of services that are necessary for the families' well-being with the ultimate goal of ensuring the safety and well-being of children.
Case Management acitivities provide services with the ultimate goal of ensuring the safety, permanency, and well-being of children. Social Workers attend court to ensure that State courts are working for the best interest of the child according to the requriements of ICWA and the guidelines of the Adoptions and Safe Families Act (ASFA).
Truancy Prevention offers support for parents and students, case management, and court advocacy for students who have school attendance problems.
Foster Care Licensing ensures that there are safe and nurturing homes available int eh event that children need to be placed out of the home.
Counceling & Therapy assists families in working through their emotional conflicts.
In Home Skills Education helps families by teaching positive parenting skills.
Family Preservation team works with families and communities to prevent entry into child protection system.
