WELL & SEPTIC

functions are constructed of sanitation facilities scattered sties, BIA, HIP, and other category homes, under PL 93-638, Indian Self Determination Fixed Price contract. Responsible for individual water wells. Community sewer and water service connections, abandonment of water wells. Also provides services to other divisions within Leech Lake Reservation.

Applicants may apply for assistance for the following services:

  • New sanitation facilities (well and septic installation)
  • Repair and/or replace sanitation facilities

* No Charge for elders or handicapped persons.
* We do not assist with rental units.

Applicant must provide the following information listed below:

  1. Title or deed to home or mobile home
  2. Proof of land ownership or tribal land lease
  3. Proof of household income (applicant and spouse)
  4. Sign a Release of Information Form
  5. Reimbursement Form (if applicable)
  6. Application for Land Use Permit

*If you alread have an application on file, you will only be required to fill out the "Short Form" application.

Homes Must Be Standard Housing in Good Condition

The Home must meet reasonable construction standars for size, health, and safety as determined by the Tribal Environmental Health Department. This means that the structure must be in a sound, well maintained condition, capable of maintaining a temperature of 70 degrees inside the dwelling during the coldest weather in the area. It must be properly and safely supplied with an electrical system, and have a fully functioning plumbing and fixturs for a full bathroom and kitchen. It must be of a size that provides adequate living space for the entire family. It must be a permanent structure. Mobile homes have their wheels removed, skiriting installed, and tied down to a permanent foundation. Permanent foundations usually consist of at least a concrete slab or other continuous concrete structure. Skirting must be of a semipermanent nature and include adequate insulation to prevent piping from freezing. Hay bales and lattice work type fencing is not considered adequate skiriting. Travel trailers and campers are not eligible for these services.

SANITATION

Provides maintenance on community water systems, septic pumping and steaming. Also provides services to other divisions within the Leech Lake Reservation.
