Mission Statement
To serve the public in partnership with our community, to protect life and property, prevent crimes and resolve problems.
Patrol
Our Patrol Division Consist of 15 Patrol Officers and 4 Patrol Sergeants. We patrol in the housing communities and surrounding areas: Cass Lake area, Ball Club, Oak Point, Winnie Dam, Smokey Point, Inger, Squaw Lake, Onigum, Bena, Pennington, Sugar Point, Kego Lake and Battle Point. We also assist the City of Cass Lake Police Department, Cass County Sheriff, Itasca County Sheriff, Beltrami County Sheriff, Hubbard County Sheriff and the Minnesota State Highway Patrol with incidents
Investigations
Our Investigators specialize in a variety of Investigations. Our Domestic Violence investigator focuses primarily on the education and prevention of domestic violence. Our Criminal Investigator focuses primarily on prevention of crime on the reservation and prosecution of those who commit crimes within the reservation. We also have Investigators who focus on the drugs, gangs, and firearm crimes within the reservation. They work in conjunction with several federal agencies and the Minnesota BCA.
Boat & Water
Our boat is used for patrolling the lakes within the reservation and also used for special occasions. Used in conjunction with the ATV we can go just about anywhere for rescue or life saving operations.
Animal Control
Our Animal Control Department patrols and responds to calls for service regarding animal complaints throughout the reservations.
School Liaison
Our school resource officers provide a liaison to the Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig School and the Cass Lake-Bena Elementary School. Both officers assist with the school administration to provide a safe and educational environment for the students of their respective schools.

Q: How do I get a copy of an incident or accident report?
A: To obtain a copy of a police or accident report, you may stop by in person. Your insurance company can request the report if they have a signed authorization from you. Call 218-335-8277 to determine if there is a cost for your request.
Q: Which officer towed my car and where is it?
A: All towing information is able to be looked up by Tribal Police Dispatch and the company who towed the vehicle can be looked up as well. Tribal Police Dispatch phone number is 218-335-8277.
Q: Where do I report a dog complaint?
A: Call the Tribal Police Dispatch and they can get a hold of the appropriate person to take the call
Q: Is a certain Officer on duty and how can I reach them?
A: Please call the Tribal Police Dispatch at 218-335-8277 and they can get a hold of the officer and have them call you. Due to privacy data laws Dispatch will not give out the Officers home or cell phone numbers.
