Calendar Information

Happy May! Besides the few colder than usual days here and there it has been very nice outside. This month we have quite a few activities that are outside weather it’s rain or shine. We encourage you to take advantage of our classes/activities as much as you can. Plus we remind you to get your Care Cards signed! LLDC has many tools to help you and your family treat and prevent your diabetes and we are here to help in any way that we can! Please do not hesitate to call with any questions @ 218.335.4511. LLDC would also like to again congratulate all of the TransformRez participants who have successfully transformed themselves and continue to do so. To those of you working towards your goal, don’t give up! We have great incentives to getting yourself healthy and changing your lifestyle.

LLDC Evening Clinic-Tuesdays until 6:30pm. LLDC Clinic is now offering an evening clinic every Tuesday night. These extended hours are intended for those that are
unable to make it to appointments during the day. So if this is convenient for you call Gabe to make an appointment @ 335-4511.

Walk & Talk w/ Carole & Kelly–Tuesdays from 12-12:30 Starting from LLDC. Join Carole Forseman, RN, CDE and Kelly Zellmann, RD, LD over the noon hour for a power walk. We will be leaving LLDC and walking down main street over to the railroad and walking up and down on the sidewalk. Come for a quick break, conversation, and fresh air!

Bike the Bay w/ Joe– Thursday, May 17th, 8:30-12pm meeting at the Fitness Center. It’s that time of year again folks and Joe invites you to join him on his summertime Bike the Bay event. Equipment set up and a nutritional snack will be served at 8:30 and at 9am the ride will begin. Bike the Bay is scheduled rain or shine throughout the summer months. Ride at your own risk and please dress weather accordingly. It’s free and it’s fun! The Fitness Center does rent out a certain number of bikes so come on in and join the fun!

Bug School Track & Field-May 17th & 18th, at the Bug O Nay Ge Shig school athletic field. During these two days these will be numerous physical activities for the
students to enjoy. Running, jumping, discus, high jump, lo jump, and many more. The Bug School invites you to come cheer on your favorite student!

Condition w/ Nutrition– Monday, May 7th at the Fitness Center from 11a-12p. Join Leech Lake Clinic Diabetes Clinic Dietitian, Kelly Zellmann to chat about nutrition. This will be focusing on Omega 3 Fats– Fish, Nuts and Plats! Learn more about how these can be very beneficial for your health!

Seasonal Sensations-Tuesday, May 15th, LLDC Lobby. Learn about this month’s Seasonal Fruits and Vegetables and to incorporate them into your meal plan. We all can benefit from increasing fruit and vegetables, there will be tips and recipes to learn how.

20th Annual Memorial Walk/Run– Thursday, May 24th. Registration begins at 8:30am in the old Cass Lake high school gym. The Leech Lake Fitness Center invites you to come join us for it’s annual Memorial Walk/Run. We will start from the old high school with the turn around point being at the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe. A light snack will be provided, and water stations will be available along the walk. A table will be set up for blood sugar checks. Come join the fun and activities!

Boot Camp– Mondays from 12-1pm at the Facility Center Gym. This is a head to toe work out incorporating body weight exercises, core work, cardio and weight training.

Lunchtime Circuits– Tuesdays & Thursdays from 11:30-12p. 24 minutes full body strength and toning circuit. Can be performed at low, medium or high intensity level.

ABsolutely COREific– Wednesdays from12-12:30p in the Facility Center Gym. This will have a variety of exercises to help train and tone your entire core.

Extreme Circuits-Tuesdays & Thursdays from 1:30-2:10p. 40 minute circuit workout using automobile tires and logs to increase strength, stamina, power and speed. Class held outside and will be weather permitting. Call Jess by 1:15 to verify class. (218)335-2081.

Gaming Circuits– Thursdays, from 3:00-3:30p. This circuit utilizes the cardio equipment, core exercises, strength training and body weight exercise to squeeze a full body workout into your busy day!

The Ball Club Fitness room is open Monday thru Friday from 8am-4:30pm. For more information on any of these events in the Ball Club community please call Marilyn Bowstring @ 218.246.8394.

Talking Circle w/ Rosie– Tuesday, May 29th at the Ball Club Fitness beginning at 6pm.

Ball Club Zumba– Mondays & Thursdays at the Ball Club Community Center from 6p to 7pm. Are you Ready to party yourself into shape? That’s exactly what the Zumba program is all about. It’s an exhilarating, effective, easy to follow, Latin-inspired, calorie burning dance fitness party that’s moving millions of people toward joy and health. We invite you to come on in and join us!
