LLBO Band Members seeking legal representation may want to contact Anishinaabe Legal Services or The Regional Native Public Defense Corporation for assistance.

Anishinaabe Legal Services

Anishinaabe Legal Services (ALS) is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization that was created in 1967, using funds from the Federal Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO). At that time, ALS was known as the Leech Lake Reservation Legal Services Project, and was the first independent Native American legal services office in the country. In 1974, Congress created the Federal Legal Services Corporation (LSC), and the Leech Lake Services Project began receiving its annual Native American grant from LSC.
