WIC Program

WIC is a nutrition education program focused on reducing low birth weight babies, infant mortality, poor growth and childhood obesity. WIC provides breast feeding promotion and support and makes health referrals to registered dietitians, maternity and child health nurses, physicians and other providers. Participants receive nutrition education and vouchers for food.

WIC provides nutrition education and health assessments for infants birth to 1 year of age and children from 1 year of age to their 5th birthday.

Eligibility Requirements

• Pregnant or postpartum women
• Infants and children up to age 5
• Based on income (185% of federal poverty guidelines) for pregnant, postpartum and breast feeding women

A person denied services has the right to request a fair hearing to have the decision reviewed. A fair hearing in writing or verbally may be requested by contacting the WIC Program office in St. Paul. WIC Program, P.O. Box 64882, St. Paul, Minnesota 55164. (800) 657-3942 Toll-free.
