Elder & Disabilities Program

All our Elder Advocates are Mandated Reporters of physical, emotional, financial and sexual abuse and neglect.

Elder Advocates
Elder Advocates assist with transportation, food shelf visits, grocery shopping, delivery of commodities, medical appointments and medication pick-up. We also help with county paperwork, social security, and health insurance information. Advocates will transport and accompany Elders/Disabled individuals to appointments pending availability of van and staff.

Tribal Assistance
We assist Elders and Disabled Individuals on a case-by-case basis. Elders and Disabled Individuals can be assisted once, up to $300 each Fiscal Year, July 1st - June 30th.

  • Must be a Leech Lake Band Member.
  • Must be in dire need of emergency or extraordinary assistance and must have exhausted all other resources.
  • Eligibility shall be determined by the type of assistance requested.
Twin Cities Resource Advocate
The Resource Advocate provides supportive services to band members that are 54 years old and younger by linking them with community resources and referrals that will help them attain their goals.  These community resources include: housing, education and employment. In addition to these services, there are resource books for upcoming community events and current employment opportunities.
