The Pledge of Allegiance & Flag Etiquette

To care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan.

The Veterans Services Office provides assistance to all Veterans and their dependents when apply for Federal and State benefits.

Some of the benefits are:

  • Pension
  • Disability
  • Non-Service Connected Disability
  • Health Care
  • MACV Assistance
  • State Soldiers Assistance Program
  • School
  • Home Loan

Initiatives of the Leech Lake Veteran Services Program for Veterans in the immediate vicinity

  • Medical Transportation
  • Seek avenues for donations such as hospital beds, wheelchairs, canes, crutches, household furniture and appliances
  • Provide for Shelter for a homeless Veteran and assist to get long term shelter or permanent home
  • Gas Assistance to drive to a medical appointment
  • Other types of services.

This office also assists the Leech Lake Honor Guard to provide for Memorial Day Services to 41 Cemeteries on the Leech Lake Reservation.

The Leech Lake Veterans Services provides Flags (American, Leech Lake, POW/MIA) to the Band, Division and the Community Centers. This office also provides approximately 1500 flags for Veteran’s graves on Memorial Day. This is a great honor to provide flags to our Fallen Comrades. This year we will donate flag poles to the new RTC Building at 190 Sailstar Drive NW.

  • Applicants must meet eligibility requirements to qualify for certain programs

Partnerships

The LL Veterans Services program has partnered with the MACV program, Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans on a number of assistance programs and to help with Stand Down events in the Bemidji, Grand Rapids, and Detroit Lakes area. This is a wonderful partnership!

  • Hold an honorable discharge from the Military Service
