Summary: Responsible for assisting the DRM Botanist or Crew Leader with a multitude of projects throughout the field season. Management efforts assure the viability and survival of native plant communities, and traditional use of plant species across the Reservation.
Qualifications: AS degree in Natural Resources Management or equivalent preferred. Minimum of one year coursework related to Natural Resource Management, Biology of Forest Ecology Core course requirements are; Biology, Forest Ecology or equivalent, Botany or equivalent. Valid MN Driver’s License, current insurance or be insurable.
Skills: Work under the direction of the Botanist and/or crew leader to implement a variety of control methods for invasive species (mechanical control, bio-control release, etc.). Summary: Responsible for the initiation, implementation and maintenance of all radio station projects, software and equipment both at the studio and transmitter site.

Child Abuse Prevention Coordinator ~ Human Services ~ DOQ ~ Job Code:  14-009C

Summary: The Child Abuse Prevention Coordinator will initiate and support traditional cultural activities geared toward the prevention of child abuse and neglect on the Leech Lake reservation. The Child Abuse Prevention Coordinator will promote traditional Ojibwe family values within the Child Welfare Department and Leech Lake Reservation communities.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in American Indian Studies or a Human Services related field. Degree may be waived if in process of obtaining degree. Experience in planning community activities. Extensive knowledge and practice of Ojibwe traditions, beliefs and values. Valid MN Driver’s License, current insurance or be insurable.
Skills: Provide opportunities in the Leech Lake  Reservation communities for families to engage in child abuse prevention awareness activities and promote traditional Ojibwe values. Assist in the implementation of community forums to address issues of child abuse and neglect.

Environmental Health Specialist ~ Health ~ DOQ ~ Job Code:  14-015

Summary: The Environmental Health Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive health program for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe.

Skills: Keeps Reservation owned water systems in compliance with USEPA Safe Drinking Water Regulations through the Monitoring of regulated parameters. Conducts annual surveys of community water, wastewater, and solid waste facilities. Coordinates environmental health activities with IHS, State, Tribal and BIA personnel.

SPF-TIG Project Director ~ Human Services ~ DOQ ~ Job Code:  13-245
VALID CLASS D DRIVER’S LICENSE, SIGNED MVR FORM AND BCA REQUIRED
Summary: The SPF-TIG (Strategic Prevention Framework – State/Tribal Incentive Grant) Project Director will be responsible for assuring that the SPF-TIG is cooperative agreement guidelines are met in accordance with the contract plan with SAMHSA. The SPF-TIG is a comprehensive program for youth prevention. It includes creating a strategic plan following SAMHSA guidelines, with input from the community and under guidance of the Advisory Council. The core of this program is that it is community driven and developed. The Project Director must have strong cultural and community ties in order to build coalitions, partnerships and collaborations with other organizations and entities that serve youth in the region.
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in the Mental Health or Chemical Dependency fields is required. Knowledge of the Public Health Model of Prevention. At least five years Project Coordination and Strategic Planning experience. Knowledge of Tribal Practice-Based Evidence, Evidence-Based Practices and Model Curriculum Development. Valid MN Driver’s License, current insurance or be insurable preferred.
Skills: Responsible for coordinating activities outlined in the SPF-TIG Project, as well as activities of subcommittees; for overseeing the strategic planning process; supporting SPF-TIG Advisory Task Force and Work groups in choosing and/or creating a culturally appropriate curriculum and program for providing prevention services to youth living on or near the Leech Lake Reservation. Controller ~ Finance ~ DOQ ~ Job Code:  12-110B

Summary: Responsible for broad administration and direction of financial controls to support division objectives.  Responsible for the timely accurate reporting of all financial data. Providing financial reports required by the band’s management and regulatory and rating agencies.  Directs and controls the cost accounting, general accounting and budgeting functions.  Responsible for the development, analysis, and interpretations of statistical and accounting information to appraise profitability, capital expenditures and performance against budget.  Responsible for the research and recommendation of CPA firms for audits. Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting or Finance, with a working knowledge of accounting systems, well developed financial analysis capabilities, and demonstrated computer literacy. Summary: Shall provide day-to-day direction, operation, management, control and supervision of the Tax, Risk and Insurance Program. The TRI Manager shall administer and enforce the tax revenue laws of the Band and ensure that the Band’s tax matters are addressed. Plans, directs and coordinates risk and any non-human resources insurance programs of organization to control risks and losses.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting; Licensed Certified Public Accountant preferred.
Five years experience directing, implementing and/or enforcing tribal, municipal, state or federal taxation programs. Five years experience preferred supervisory management experience and conducting tax audits. Experience developing and implementing clear comprehensive financial reports and financial reports and financial tax- related and insurance databases.
Skills: Must possess excellent customer service skills with the general public, including maintaining tact, diplomacy and flexibility when dealing with different personalities.
