The Leech Lake Police Department (LLPD) offers a Ride-along program to members of the community. The program offers an inside look to the department's operations, education, community involvement, community policing philosophy and day-to-day activities involving law enforcement. The program consists of public participation through familiarizing participants with police work and how the community can help prevent and deter crime through education and awareness.
A wide spectrum of learning topics include learning the history and existence of the Tribal Police, a tour of the department, review of common police calls for service, functions of patrol, investigations, bike safey, animal control, communtiy service, K-9 units, traffic stops, education and awareness of crime prevention. Ride-alongs are open to the public, law enforcement students, parties intested in careers with law enforcement, members of the community and anyone that would like to participate in the Ride-along program. The Tribal Police will provide the citizens of the Leech Lake Reservation a safe, crime free environment and promote prositive family growth through effective law enforcement and community education.
